A Testimony: Truckin' for Life
Jim Davis has been an active driver of the CBR's "Choice" Trucks" since 2004. As a volunteer driver, he drives on average, once per week, and concentrates his efforts in areas where the most eyes and hearts will be affected by the abortion images. The following is his recent testimony of the effectiveness of the Reproductive "Choice" Campaign (RCC).
In 1973, when abortion became legal, I believed the lie that "it" was only a blob of tissue. I procured an abortion. Since that infamous day, I have confessed my sin, I have been forgiven, and I walk free of this burden of guilt.
When people learn that I drive the Reproductive "Choice" Campaign they ask "is there a better way?" In response I often tell this story.
On Tuesday, July 3, 2007, I volunteered to drive the anti-abortion billboard trucks and headed out to the Red, White, and Boom fireworks
festivities in downtown Columbus, OH. It is estimated that 1 million people attend this event! I was planning to just make a pass through town
(it was 10:00 a.m.) and come back later in the day when the crowds were larger. To my surprise, there were already thousands of people
assembling, hundreds of vendor booths, and dozens of officials in attendance.
I was concerned that the officials (uniformed and volunteer police officers) would find objection to the signs on the truck because I was driving on some of the most congested and crowded roads. As the day progressed, I settled into a fairly consistent route and noticed the difference in the typical response of the people. From experience, I can tell by the reactions of those who are present, if they are first-time viewers and not hardened hearts. There was an abundant harvest of new eyes, thousands gazing at the truth about abortion for the first time.
At around 6:00 PM, I heard on the radio that there was going to be a parade downtown and the route that I had been driving would be closed off. Soon afterward, I started noticing hundreds of people sitting on the roadside curbs. I didn't know where the parade was beginning or going, but I saw all the people. As I made my pass through the throngs of families lining the streets, I realized that the entire parade, with the Police
Escorts, Fire Trucks, and Dignitaries, were all waiting for me to clear the street so the parade could begin. As I slowly made my way in the center of the wide street directly toward the amassed parade formation, the billboard truck was the only vehicle in a "Parade Formation of One" going against the tide, but clearly being seen be everyone who was there. There was nothing else for them to see but the abortion images on the truck. As the parade began, the officials closed off the street right behind me! As a result multiple thousands saw the truth. People were there to celebrate Independence Day, but God directed my path to send a very different message: America needs to bless God before God can bless America.
CBR Midwest Needs Drivers
Do you have a driver's license? That is all you need to drive our billboard trucks. No special license or training is needed. If you live in the Ohio area, CBR Midwest needs drivers for our truck campaign.
If you don't live in Ohio or cannot drive for other reasons, please help guys like Jim drive our trucks by supporting CBR Midwest financially. We need finances for fuel, insurance and maintenance costs.
Ohio Abortion Ban Re-introduced
Rep. Tom Brinkman (R-Cincinnati) has re-introduced the Ohio Abortion Ban Bill (HB 284). While in the Ohio State Legislature, Brinkman has championed the attempt to protect the children in Ohio again.
Rep. Tom Brinkman introduced the first Ohio bill prohibiting abortion in the Ohio House in 2005. In 2006, Mark Harrington led a coalition of pro-life groups, legislators, medical professionals, and pastors in support of the Ohio Abortion Ban. This time, Karen Tabor, spokeswoman for Speaker Jon Husted, said the speaker will poll fellow GOP legislators to determine their interest when lawmakers return to Columbus in the fall 2007. "It will probably get a hearing," Tabor said.
One statewide pro-life leader had a different take on the legislation by saying, "It has become next to impossible to outlaw abortion. With the governor that we have, I don't think there is any possibility of getting a ban passed."
CBR Midwest refuses to give our political enemies cover to continue to kill more babies. Like Moses vs. Pharaoh - even though Pharaoh's heart was hardened, Moses continued to bring the message to Pharaoh "to let my people go." The pre born deserve nothing less from us. We will continue to press for bans on abortion until the day that legal protection is restored to the preborn.
Remember, Ohio's motto is "With God all things are possible."
Human Cloning Ban Introduced Into Ohio Senate
Chris Long, Executive Director, of the Ohio Christian Alliance (OCA) recently worked with Ohio Senator Steve Buehrer to introduce SUB SB 174 – the Ohio Human Cloning Ban. CBR Midwest, along with Cincinnati Right to Life, is joining OCA in promoting this important piece of pro-life legislation.
Cloning is short for Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT). SCNT is a three-step process. First, an unfertilized egg is taken from a woman and its nucleus is removed. Next, genetic material (DNA) from the patient is placed inside the vacated egg. Chemicals are then added and a spark of electricity jolts the cell into dividing and growing into a cloned human embryo. A decade ago, this same technique gave us "Dolly," the first cloned sheep.
Cloning is Cloning
Many politicians support "therapeutic cloning" done for research but they oppose "reproductive cloning" done "to produce babies." What is the difference? Nothing. There is no difference in the cloning. The cloning being undertaken in each case is the same (somatic cell nuclear transfer). All cloning reproduces a human being at the embryonic stage. Therefore, all cloning is reproductive cloning. The difference is not in the cloning. The difference is in the fate of the human being just created.
This fact is easily disguised for a gullible public. Don't be duped.
