Some of the many ways that animal-rights groups are trying to mimic the effectiveness of the Genocide Awareness Project. |

The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform is gearing up for the Genocide Awareness Project (GAP) fall 2005 tour. CBR will visit South Dakota State University and University of South Dakota in September. As CBR readies to hit the road, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has launched a 41-city tour that aims to promote animal rights in an exhibit named “Animal Liberation” which likens the treatment of farm animals to slavery, child labor, and the holocaust. Whether you agree with PETA’s use of these analogies or not one thing is clear - they have learned the power of graphic images and the use of comparisons promotes dialogue.
Launched in 1998, CBR’s Genocide Awareness Project (GAP) compares historical genocide to abortion and has visited over 100 US campuses with this message. CBR remains committed to changing the hearts and minds of America’s future decision makers and leaders.
The irony is that many animal rights activist are pro abortion. That is one reason why CBR displays signs demonstrating this hypocrisy as part of GAP.
Imitation of CBR’s tactics by others is the highest form of flattery and is a testimony to our effectiveness. Also, an Ohio animal rights group is using billboard trucks to make their point at Ohio State University (OSU) where CBR Midwest has been displaying the reality of abortion for years. Apparently, OSU offers a spinal cord injury course using mice as the subjects they dissect. Thanks to your financial investment CBR is receiving the highest of compliments imitation.
CBR is making abortion real to thousands of Americans. CBR is turning diesel fule into live infants. In September, CBR Midwest’s “Reversing Roe” Tour will once again display the photographic evidence of abortion in several more Ohio cities:
Reversing Roe” Tour 2 Finishes Race Strong
On August, 11, 2005 CBR Midwest completed a 15 city tour of Ohio. Here is an excerpt from a Newspaper report:
According to Miami County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Joe Mahan, the organizers behind the "Reversing Roe" Tour that stops in Troy, OH Monday and features large graphic photos of aborted fetuses are expressing their First Amendment right.
"They have contacted the Sheriff's Office that they are coming and I get the impression that they are doing this to express their constitutional right of free speech," Mahan said. "Not having seen the photos, as far as I know, they are not doing anything illegal.
CBR Note: Illegal? What we are doing is legalthe acts that are depicted, however, should be illegal.
“The pictures are not blatantly pornographic or anything like that, but rather more of probably what you would see at a Right to Life display at the fair."
CBR Note: Not! Most national pro life groups refuse to use the pictures of abortion to educate Americans. History shows us that few social reformers are willing to invite the persecution that comes along with the exhibition of images of injustice. CBR cares less about what people think of us and more about what people think of abortion.
And the Pictures Work:
Read this initial email to CBR Midwest from an Ohio resident who viewed our billboards:
On my way to work two days ago, I was shocked and appalled to drive by two trucks with your extremely graphic photos of aborted fetuses on them. Regardless of my stand on abortion, I can not believe that your organization would put such photographs on your trucks . . . The images stuck in my mind all day and I found myself telling everyone how disturbing they were. I understand that you are trying to make a point but I think that you have gone too far. I am thoroughly disgusted. Anonymous
Read this email received a few hours later after corresponding with our CBR office:
I realize that many women may change their mind after seeing your trucks. I guess I was just shocked to see them downtown. It's not something you expect. Sorry to have reacted so strongly at first. Anonymous
CBR Midwest Depends on You!
Women in crisis pregnancy depend on CBR to share with them the truth. The babies lined up for slaughter need CBR too! Many people are depending on usthe babiesthe parents. But we cannot be dependable unless you are dependable. Tragically, CBR Midwest’s financial support is down 20% in 2005. We have had to make some difficult cuts in order to faithfully put out the message. We are doing all we can to attract new financial supporters but we cannot do this alone.
If you are not supporting CBR Midwest monthly please consider doing so. Monthly gifts of $20-$50 are what we and the babies depend on. We have big plans for fall 2005. GAP, “Reversing Roe” Tour, and a Campus Billboard Truck Tour are all in the works. However, we will need to cut back on these plans if we don’t hear from you NOW. What is a life worth? Please give until it hurts. So many depend on you.
Believing in His Promise,
Mark Harrington, Executive Director, CBR Midwest
